Number of Flights Passing through Iran’s Airspace Increasing
TEHRAN (FNA)- The number of foreign flights passing through the Iranian airspace has increased in the past few months amid the coronavirus outbreak in the world.

Figures and data provided by the Iran Airports Company show that the number of passenger and cargo flights passing via the country’s sky has grown in the fifth month of the current Iranian year (July 22-August 21) and increased to 8,431 flights compared with the previous month.

The number of passing flights in the fourth month on the Iranian calendar stood at 7,295.

Foreign states have resumed their flights via Iran’s airspace after a halt due to the outbreak of coronavirus.

The first flight from Tehran to Madrid was launched earlier this month after 17 years.

Following efforts made by Iranian embassy in Madrid through coordination with the Civil Aviation Organization, the Airline of the Islamic Republic of Iran (Iran Air) and Spain's domestic institutions, the first direct flight of Iran Air was launched on Wednesday from Tehran to Madrid and vice versa.

"Fortunately, a direct and weekly flight between Tehran and Madrid had been conducted for the first time by The Islamic Republic of Iran Airline and we hope that this important step in bilateral relations would strengthen the ties between the two nations and develop tourism and would also help promote mutual trade cooperation," Iranian Ambassador to Spain Hassan Qashqavi said.

Also, in May, Iran and Tajikistan resumed their flights after a stop due to the coronavirus epidemic, head of Mashhad International Airport for public relations Hassan Jafari announced.
