In a phone conversation with his Azeri counterpart Ilham Aliyev late on Friday, Rouhani congratulated the Azeri government and nation on Eid al-Adha, and noted that development of all-out ties with Azerbaijan is important for Iran.
Aliyev, for his part, felicitated the Iranian nation and government on Eid al-Adha, saying that Baku and Tehran will surely take measures to bolster bilateral relations.
"Rasht-Astara railway project is very important for Azerbaijan and we will do our best to remove the obstacles and complete this project as soon as possible," he said.
In relevant remarks on Monday, Iranian President’s Chief of Staff Mahmoud Vaezi said his country enjoys positive and growing relations with Azerbaijan Republic, and noted that efforts should be made to further strengthen bilateral ties.
"Amid global coronavirus outbreak, we should make more efforts to increase Tehran-Baku relations in line with common interests." Vaezi said in a phone contact with Azeri President’s Foreign Policy Adviser.
The official noted that cooperation between Iran and Azerbaijan Republic is a good model of constructive relations between the regional nations.
